Senior Data Engineer
Full Time

Are you a skilled and forward-thinking Senior Data Engineer that can lead data-driven transformation in the aged care sector?

 

We have a BRAND NEW role based in Cheltenham, that will focus on data modelling, forecasting of resident records, Power BI dashboards, data science, and AI integration, delivering smart, predictive, and actionable insights to improve care delivery and operational efficiency.

 

You will play a critical role in building scalable data infrastructure, delivering analytics solutions, and enabling strategic decision-making through modern platforms like Azure, Databricks, and Microsoft Fabric.

 

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in data engineering, modelling, and analytics, ideally within aged care or healthcare.
  • Strong technical skills in SQL, Python, Power BI, and Azure Data Services (Synapse, Databricks, Fabric).
  • Deep understanding of forecasting techniques, predictive modelling, and AI/ML application.
  • Hands-on experience with data lakehouse architecture and medallion design patterns.
  • Solid experience building and deploying AI/ML pipelines in production.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to simplify technical solutions for non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working in data governance, privacy, and ethical use of healthcare data.
  • Consulting mindset with a proactive approach to innovation and problem-solving

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement scalable data models to support forecasting of resident care needs, occupancy trends, staffing requirements, and resource planning.
  • Build and maintain robust data pipelines (ETL/ELT) using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and Microsoft Fabric to ensure reliable data flow and integration.
  • Develop interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI to deliver actionable insights to clinical, operational, and executive stakeholders.
  • Apply statistical techniques and machine learning models to drive predictive analytics and improve resident care outcomes.
  • Lead AI and advanced analytics initiatives, including proof-of-concept development, model deployment, testing, and continuous improvement.
  • Identify data gaps, conduct A/B testing, and analyse performance metrics to optimise aged care services and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (data engineering, BI, clinical, IT, and leadership) to align analytics solutions with organisational goals.
  • Enable self-service analytics by building reusable data models, curated datasets, and accessible tools that empower non-technical teams to use data effectively.
  • Provide advanced data analysis and business intelligence to support strategic planning, performance monitoring, and service optimisation.
  • Translate complex data into practical, person-centred insights that enable proactive care decisions and improved quality of life for residents.
  • Promote a strong data culture by mentoring junior team members and enhancing data literacy across both clinical and non-clinical teams.
  • Ensure full compliance with data governance, security, privacy, and ethical standards, particularly in handling sensitive health and resident data.
  • Continuously assess and enhance the analytics infrastructure to support the organisation’s digital transformation and evolving aged care requirements.
