What does a Personal Carer Do?

  • Build meaningful working relationships with residents
  • Personal care -  bathroom/incontinence assistance/supporting and showers and dressing residents
  • Serving meals and supporting residents with a meal
  • Wellbeing - talking with residents and participating in activities
  • Cleaning - tidying rooms, changing linen
  • Administration - computer based documentation

 

Essential to your success:

  • Currently studying Cert III or IV Individual Support (Ageing ) and due to be qualified within 6 months of commencing employment
  • Excellent communication skills - listening, observing and speaking
  • A passion for helping others
  • Ability to think on your feet
  • Motivation to learn, grow and develop
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Problem solving
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships among residents, colleagues and supervisors
